Why is my stream count or other trends data changing unexpectedly?

We understand how important accurate trend data is to artists. If you experience any unexpected fluctuations in your stream counts or other trends data, here’s what you need to know:

  • LANDR doesn’t modify your data

We simply display the data provided by streaming and download platforms. We do not make any changes to the reported stream or download counts ourselves.

  • Platform updates can overwrite previous data

When a platform updates a report, the new version replaces the old one. Unfortunately, LANDR can’t provide details regarding differences between updates.

  • Historical data may change

It's not uncommon for some platforms to retroactively adjust stream/download counts, even for data that is weeks, months, or even years old.

  • Adjustments often relate to artificial stream removal

These changes typically happen when a platform identifies and removes streams they determine to be non-genuine (for instance, bots or streaming manipulation). These were initially counted as valid and later excluded upon further review.

We recommend monitoring trends over longer periods and checking back periodically, as data may continue to adjust as platforms refine their reporting.
