Why am I receiving a copyright claim from TikTok for my own music?

If you're receiving a copyright claim from TikTok when trying to use your own music, it’s likely because of the type of TikTok account you’re using.

When you distribute your music to TikTok through LANDR, your tracks are added to TikTok’s Sounds Library. To use your own music in a video, you must select the version that appears in the Sounds Library, not upload a separate copy or use a different version.

However, TikTok restricts access to different parts of its audio catalog depending on your account type:

  • Personal accounts have access to the full Sounds Library, including all distributed artist music.

  • Business accounts are limited to the Commercial Sounds Library, which only includes fully cleared, royalty-free music for commercial use.

If you have a business account, your own distributed music will not appear as an available option, and using it can trigger a copyright claim or block.

How to fix it:

  • Make sure you are selecting "Sounds" (not "Commercial Sounds") when searching for your track.

  • If you’re on a business account, switch to a personal account. Personal accounts have full access to the Sounds Library, allowing you to use your own music without restrictions.
