You can release a cover song through LANDR by indicating the track is a cover during the release process and selecting the appropriate licensing option. LANDR offers a one-time licensing service for $15, or you can provide your own license or opt to release only to streaming platforms (with limitations). For additional context and detail on cover songs and cover song licensing, read this article.
Reminder: Cover Song Licensing Options
When releasing a cover song through LANDR Distribution, you’ll have three licensing options:
-
LANDR-secured license
-
Pay a one-time $15 licensing fee
-
LANDR will secure a mechanical license on your behalf for digital download platforms in the U.S.
-
-
Provide your own license
-
If you already have a valid license, select “I already have a license” and upload your proof of rights under the “Licensed content” section.
-
-
No license (streaming-only)
-
You may release your cover only to streaming platforms (like Spotify and YouTube Music) without a license.
-
Important: This option excludes Apple Music, as LANDR distributes to Apple Music and iTunes together and cannot separate the two.
