Can I change my artist name or artist profile?

The name or profile of existing primary artists, featured artists, and remixers cannot be changed. The artist name and profile are linked, and must match.

Due to this, a new artist profile will be created when you choose a new artist name.

The features available for artist changes depend upon your subscription type.

Distribution Pro and Studio Pro subscribers

Distribution Pro and Studio Pro subscribers can manage up to 5 artists on their LANDR accounts.

If you are within your artist limits, you can remove the old artist name and add the new one. Upon delivery, a new profile will be created in association with the new artist name.

To do this, follow the steps below:

  1. Go to My Releases
  2. Click Manage
  3. Click Edit
  4. Remove the old artist with the (X) button
  5. Enter the new artist name and click “+ Create a new artist”
  6. Do not click “This artist already has music live in stores” - leave it un-checked
    1. Because the artist name and profile must match, trying to link your new name to your old profile will cause an error
  7. Proceed to the final step and submit your updates
  8. Our distribution specialists will review your changes and notify you once they’re submitted to the stores

If you have reached your artist limits, have a different subscription, or are un-subscribed

If your plan cannot accommodate a new artist, you’ll first need to make room by removing the artist you’ll no longer be using from your account entirely.

To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Go to My Releases (Use the artist filter to show all releases containing the specific artist)
  2. Click Manage
  3. Click Pause
  4. Use the status and artist filters on the My Releases page to show all paused releases containing the specific artist
  5. Hover over the release and click the Delete release icon. Each release must be deleted
  6. Create a new release
  7. In the artist field, the old artist will appear in the dropdown. Click the (x) delete button to remove the artist from your account completely
  8. Enter the new artist name and click “+ Create a new artist”
  9. Do not click “This artist already has music live in stores” - leave it un-checked
    1. Because the artist name and profile must match, trying to link your new name to your old profile will cause an error
  10. Proceed to the final step and submit your release
  11. Our distribution specialists will review your release and notify you once they’re submitted to the stores
