How do I claim my artist profile on Spotify?

When releasing your music through LANDR Distribution, claiming your artist profile on Spotify is a lot faster and easier than the standard method. Once you’ve submitted your release through LANDR, and once Spotify has received the release and recognized you as an artist in their system, you can instantly claim your artist profile on this page.

There are a few things to keep in mind about your artist profile and Spotify for Artists account, so let’s run through some essential information.

What is a Spotify for Artists account?

Spotify for Artists is a free platform provided by Spotify that gives musicians and their teams access to manage their artist profile and track how their music is performing. It allows you to:

  • Customize your artist profile (bio, photos, social links)
  • View real-time streaming data and listener demographics
  • Pitch songs to Spotify’s editorial playlists
  • See how fans are finding and listening to your music
  • Add or manage team members with access to your profile

This platform is essential for artists who want to maintain a professional presence and grow their audience on Spotify.

How long does it take to have my profile approved?

It can take up to two weeks for your artist profile to be created in Spotify’s system after your first release is submitted to them through LANDR. You can check this page regularly to see if your profile is ready to be claimed.

You cannot claim your artist profile before submitting your first release through LANDR.

Why doesn’t my artist name appear when I search for it when claiming my profile?

There are a number of reasons why your artist name might not show up when you search for it:

  • You don’t have a release live on Spotify
  • You have a new release and Spotify is in the process of putting together your profile (so be sure to check back regularly)
  • You’re listed as an additional artist on a release—you need to be the primary artist in order to claim your profile
  • Your song is released as part of a compilation under a different artist—you need to release under your own artist name through LANDR Distribution

Can I pitch a song to Spotify editorial playlists if it’s my very first song on the platform?

Because Spotify needs at least 7 days to consider your song, and the song must be submitted to them prior to being released, this can make it more difficult to pitch a song if you’re also going through the process of claiming your artist account.

We recommend initiating and claiming your artist profile on Spotify using a first release, and then pitching a different song later once you’re established on the platform.
