How should I format my track name?

If you have more than one version of a track in your release, do include terms to differentiate them (i.e. “Live”, “Radio Edit”, “Instrumental”, “Extended Version”, etc.).

If your release has 1 track in it, these details will automatically appear on your album title as well.

Good examples:

  • Yellow Submarine
  • Smooth Chick
  • Blue Orchid
  • Move On Up (Extended Version)

Bad examples:

  • Yellow Submarine (1966)
  • Smooth Chick (Produced by Timbaland)
  • The White Stripes - Blue Orchid
  • 5. Move On Up (Extended Version)

Don't include:

Physical or digital release info

For example, don't include: e-release, digital only, digital download, digital single, e-album, 2 CD set, with lyrics

Unnecessary version information on an original version of a track

On the standard, original version of a track, don't include: album version, original version, previously unreleased, reissue, original mix

Any information that is already addressed by stores

For example, iTunes displays a badge or blurb for the following, so don't include:

  • iTunes LP version
  • Clean version
  • Explicit version
  • Mastered for iTunes
